Our Beliefs: God & The Bible - Gateway Christian Fellowship
What We Believe
What We Believe
God
We believe in one Triune God (YHWEH), the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, co-equal and co-eternal, one God who revealed Himself to Israel and through her to the whole world. God is unchangeable in his holiness, justice, wisdom and love. He is the almighty Creator; Saviour and Judge who sustains and governs all things according to his sovereign will for His own glory.
The Bible
We believe in the Full Counsel of God, as revealed in the Bible/Scriptures. We believe in the revelation, inspiration, and illumination of the Holy Scriptures, as presented both, in the Old Testament and in the New Testament. We believe that the Scriptures have supreme authority and are always sufficient in all matters of faith and conduct and are without error and fully reliable in fact and doctrine.
Humanity
All men and women are created in the image of God, with equal worth and dignity. God’s determined intent was that the men and women He created should live and rest in harmony with Him and with the whole of creation.
As a result of disobedience to our Creator, men and women have become sinful and rebellious and therefore subject to judgment of God.
We believe that Christians are those who have been ‘Born Again’ of the Holy Spirit, through faith in Jesus Christ as the only Redeemer and Saviour and who are indwelt by the Holy Spirit who now fills and sanctifies believers to produce fruit in their lives.
The Lord Jesus Christ
We believe that God revealed Himself in the person of the Lord Jesus Christ. Christ was God in the flesh, He lived a sinless life, in obedience to His Father and in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead in bodily form. The Lord Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man.
We believe in the virgin birth of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, whose only and all sufficient propitiatory death on the cross made atonement for the sins, through His precious blood, for the whole world. He died, was buried and rose again in bodily form on the third day. We believe that He ascended bodily into heaven and is glorified and sits at the right hand of God our Father in Heaven, and is there to intercede for us.
Baptism and the Breaking of Bread
We believe in Baptism of believers by full immersion as taught in the New Testament. We believe in Communion/the breaking of Bread/prayers. All who are believers and have been baptised, are welcome to take communion with us. The Lord’s Supper is a commemoration of Christ’s sacrifice offered once for all.
We believe that the act of the Lord’s Supper should be part of a communal meal (breaking of bread), which is a reflection of the fellowship and communion with God and with fellow believers, who are fully committed to Christ and His body.
We encourage all, who are active participants of the fellowship, to open their homes to enjoy food as a token of fellowship. We see this as part of our worship and service to the Lord.
We take the Lord’s Supper, along with the breaking of bread with each other, as a reflection of Christ’s death and in remembrance of His second coming. We engage in this under the direction of the Holy Spirit, when and as often as this opportunity is presented on Sundays.
Second Coming
We believe in the rapture of all born again believers. The believers will be saved from the wrath to come in the last days and this is expected to happen during the Great Tribulation, which will take place during Jacob’s Trouble, as outlined in the Bible.
We believe in the physical return of the Lord Jesus Christ to establish God’s Kingdom on earth and that He will reign on the earth, from Jerusalem, for a thousand years as revealed in the Book of Revelation. Thereafter He will judge the living and the dead and bring in God’s rule forever in a New Heaven and a New Earth.
We believe that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is the only message of salvation, revealed first to the Jews and then to the Gentiles. That for the sake of the Gentiles, the Jews are temporarily blinded, but that they will be restored to their Messiah Jesus when He returns in the fullness of time.
We believe that God will fulfil all of His Covenant Promises, (both, the Old and New Covenant), which He made to the Jewish people and to the whole world, in both, the First and Second Coming of Yeshua Ha Meshach (Jesus Christ).
